Economic impact

Alongside research and education, creating social impact is one of the core tasks of universities. Social impact is set to become increasingly important in future research. For example, the new Standard Evaluation Protocol (SEP) places a much more explicit focus on it in external research assessments. The university is also collaborating with a growing number of regional, national and international public and private stakeholders to create greater impact.

Impact is defined in many different ways. One of the most common definitions is ’the transfer of knowledge for the benefit of society’, in which impact can be focused on creating both economic value (profit) or non-economic value (non-profit). In this session, we will be zooming in specifically on the profit side of impact. The discussion will be conducted on the basis of a number of questions, with the central issue being: What can the university do to enhance the economic impact of its research?

This session is for students and staff of Utrecht University. Registration is not required. We recommend checking this site beforehand in case of last-minute venue (or other) changes. Please note: the number of places is limited and the session may be conducted partly or fully in Dutch.
